How To Use It

Learning Magazine 2007 Teachers' Choice Award for the Family. The AMERICA music CD from Teacher and the Rockbots provides a great way for kids to become familiar with many of the significant events, cultural traditions and institutions that have shaped our country. It also reinforces American history and government lessons in a kid-friendly way with humor, modern rock music and commentary from a robot... think 21st century "Schoolhouse Rock." And to make the songs like a game, clues are given in the verses so that listeners can try to guess the answers before they are revealed. It is like a musical version of "I Spy" or "Jeopardy."

To enhance each song, free activities in the form of worksheets, lyrics, quizzes and online games have been created. You can use them to introduce, test and/or reinforce subject along with each song.

What fans have to say...

"Great CD for my class. Love the words and worksheets available to help - Thanks!" - Karen

"My boys love it; and I actually like it, too." - Laura

"I am starting a unit on the United States for 5th graders who are extremely disinterested in Social Studies. They love music, so this is something they will really like--and sing with their friends!!" - Annie

"Just wanted to say thanks for creating the 50 States Song. My third grader students had a blast learning them. We even competed against the 5th grades and won. The song and activities are awesome. great job!!!!" - Edith

"It is so much more fun to teach and learn with some spunk and energy. That is what I like about this product. I also love the resources available on-line." - Anonymous

"We listen to the songs, sometimes make up dances, and really like using the worksheets included on your site. The students and I like the rock style of the song, we love the robot voice." - Lisa

"It is informative, clearly understandable, and the music is attractive to young people." - Anonymous

"I'm going to try using this occasionally in my classroom for reviewing some Social Studies lessons. I think the students (ages 8 and 9) will enjoy the music. The lyrics are great, pretty much on target." - J. Crown

"The songs are played and sung along to. I have also used the video for the Pledge. I have used a few of the quizzes in Smartboard activities for whole class instructions. I have used a couple of the worksheets and modified them into an interactive activity for SmartBoard" - Christopher

"We listen to the music first. Usually the kids ask to hear it a couple of times. Then we use the worksheet while listening to the songs. Playing them about once a week after that keeps the kids reinforcing the information." - Susan

"This is a reinforcement activity a little after they have begun to explore the branches of government." - Alison

"I often make a power point to accompany the song, and stop the recording to ask students for the correct answer to the details as sung in the song." - Karen

"I just wanted to tell you how much my 3rd grade students and I love Teacher and the Rockbots. I had students asking for itunes gift cards so they could download songs for their birthdays. I have listened to many, many teacher CD\'s and this is by far the best ones out there." - Jenny

"I am planning on introducing the unit on Washington DC with the song. We have individual books with each of those memorials/monuments. I will then use the song as a quiz. The kids have all been humming and singing it since I played the CD this morning for Social Studies! Great way for the kids to remember." - Nanette
